FULLY AWAKE: OCAC hosts Neeley Dawson and Cathryn Zommer

Fully Awake: Black Mountain College is a documentary film exploring "education in a democracy," and highlights the College's belief that the creative arts and practical responsibilities are equally important to intellectual development. Life skills are developed through democratic governance, art exploration, manual labor, and community living.

Last fall, Neeley Dawson visited OCAC and presented FULLY AWAKE, a full-length documentary about Black Mountain College that she and Cathryn Zommer conceived directed and produced. The film received international acclaim and was screened at the Tate Modern in London, MoMA in New York, and the Guggenheim in Bilbao.

Neeley and Cathryn are currently working on a reenvisioned version of the movie, and they will be spending a week on OCAC's campus working through edits.

They are excited to be part of our community, working in the BLM studios from July 21-August 2.
